Below are listed the
practioners that I used during my pregnancy. Without them
I would not have had the easy and well planned and monitored pregnancy
that I had. If you want excellent care with a spiritual focus
on wholeness, I highly recommend everyone on this list.
Catherine
Schaefer and Nora Tallman ND's and Midwives After
Brenda moved to Boise, I needed to find another midwife. By
a beautiful piece of synchronicity I was led to the midwife team
of Catherine and Nora. They are both Naturopaths and Certified
midwives with 50 years of experience between them. They specialize
in midwifery, home water birth, and pediatrics. I'm looking
forward to my next pregnacy and birth experience under the care
of these two women. Their office is located in North Portland.

Dr.
Doug Brown, Classical Homeopath. I first went to
Doug at the encouragement of my shaman mentor, Greta Holmes, who
is also a classical homeopath. I had been having trouble staying
grounded in my body (a challenge for many intuitives) and this had
been preventing me from becoming pregnant and holding a pregnancy.
Doug found the right homeopathic remedy for me after an extensive
interview. During my pregnancy, he kept an eye on my overall
symptoms and was critical in lowering my bloodpressure at one point,
and at another reducing painful swelling. Doug is highly intuitive.
Contact him not just for prenatal care, but for other hard to treat
ailments. I know he was instrumental in eliminating panic-attack
symptoms that had been plaguing me for years, and until that point
had only been controlled with monthly acupuncture.
Dominic
Anaya, LMT. Dom has had extensive training
in Osteopathy, Bodywork, and Massage Therapy. I went to Dom
for bodywork, which included cranial. During his sessions
with me, he made sure that my circulation was optimal (a problem
during pregnancy) and eased the changes occuring within my back,
pelvis, and sacrum with the growing baby. Dom also treats
newborns, helping colicky symptoms caused by the squeeze through
the birth canal or lack of squeeze with a C-section. Dom is
excellent---without his treatments I would have been a very uncomfortable
woman during the last half of pregnancy. You can reach Dom at 503.222.5371
Toshia Parker: Toshia's speciality is hypnobirthing classes.
My sessions with her over several months prepared my mind and body
for the upcoming birth so I could experience it painfree by working
with my body. Dismantling my fears around labor, delivery,
and motherhood in general were critical to how I was approaching
labor. Also, Toshia provided CD's with various scripts to
listen to daily, and with each session she provided articles around
birth and pregnancy. Each session she spent with me was over
an hour and very thorough. Toshia is located in the midwest,
but phone sessions were absolutley no problem.
Michael
Quindoy, LMT After Kenna, my first
LMT, moved to La Grande, I was very concerned about finding a massage
therapist that I'd be happy to have work on me. Kenna recommended
Michael, and I've found him excellent, especially at prental massage.
Michael has locations in Tigard and Forest Grove, Oregon.
You can reach Michael at 503.975.9217
Chuck
Gonzales, personal trainer. I worked with Chuck throughout
my pregnancy up to 36 weeks. We kept my body firm but limber,
adjusting workouts as we went. Without Chuck's encouragement,
I probably wouldn't have been in the great shape I was to handle
labor with confidence. You can reach Chuck at 503.547.5521
Dr.
Brenda Holcombe, Naturopath and Midwife. Brenda has been
a midwife for over 25 years and has delivered nearly 900 babies.
Besides her phenomenal experience, she has a very reassuring presence.
Brenda spent at least an hour with me at each prenatal visit, more
than half of which were home visits. Brenda attends births
at home or at a clinic in Portland. I can't say enough about
Brenda. If you live in the Portland area and you want an excellent
midwife, she's the one! You can reach Brenda at 503.MIDWIFE
